A Valuable Resource for Preparing Your Own Résumé

The Strategy Behind Bold

When preparing a résumé, the use of bold print is one of those thoughts lingering in the back of your mind that you should be sure to incorporate. Once all of the information has been gathered and typed into some sort of format, and the résumé is essentially complete, the first thing the average person does is go back and highlight items throughout the presentation in BOLD.

This event usually signals the light at the end of the tunnel, as the preparation process was… Continue

Do I need a Cover Letter with my Resume?

YES!

I was recently told by an employer that he had received hundreds of resumes, and could only remember one that had a cover letter. He still remembers that person today.

Think about it like this. When you first meet someone, the first thing you do is introduce yourself. You don't just walk up and toss out your life history without an introduction. Why would you do that with your resume?

Your resume and the cover letter are your introduction. Everything about… Continue

Why can't I get to the Interview?

Because -

The Typical Résumé Only Receives About 10-20 Seconds of Attention

You think that after all the time, effort, sweat equity and frustration you put into the preparation of your résumé, it will be received with open arms by the person or company representative you took the time to send it to. You picture the “target” individual opening up the email or envelope with anticipation, and their eyes opening wide, impressed beyond belief as they take their first look at… Continue

You brought an interesting point Lisa. Working "one-on-one" can become hard and will also probably restrict one to a given geography. For example, I'm sure it will be really hard to do "one-on-one" with someone in Australia or Singapore...

So how do you find leads right now? Is that mainly via word of mouth? or adwords?

Hi Lisa, just checked your site and absolutely love it. How much do you charge for your service? Also, am wondering how do you find clients and how do you differentiate yourself amongst other such service providers?

Best regards,

GT

If I were a cow out in the field, I’d tell you with outright glee
Of a gal who is a pretty good heifer, Lisa, Moo-Moo Marie

I like it when she starts to talk, for it is such a beautiful sound
Her words are sweeter than alfalfa grass, that shoots up from the ground

If I were placed inside a stall, I’d still be just as free
For I’m never afraid to be caged, with, Lisa, Moo-Moo Marie

She’s busier than a herd of bulls, trekking on a long cattle drive
Yet she always has plenty of time, for my irritating rawhide

As we grow older, faces being thinner, our eyes barely able to see
I’d have such a thrill, just being still, with, Lisa Moo-Moo Marie

Strolling with her on a dirt trail, side-by-side, and neck-to-neck
I’d gladly breath a ton of dust, just to join her in the trek

And when we get processed at the butcher shop, in Heaven I’d like to be
With the best little cowgirl I ever met, Lisa, Moo-Moo Marie
